DAY 1 ARRIVAL IN LIMA

Welcome to Peru! Upon your arrival at Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, a representative will be waiting to greet you. You will then be transferred to your hotel for check-in (from 3:00 pm). In the evening, you will receive a short briefing about the expedition, the use of the 4×4 vehicles, and important safety guidelines.

DAY 2 LIMA - PARACAS (303 KM)

Departure at 7:00 am after an early breakfast in 4×4 vehicles towards the city of Paracas. En route, we will stop in the town of Chilca, known for its reports of UFO sightings. You will have the opportunity to explore the town, interact with locals, and try the famous “UFO ice cream.” We then continue to the archaeological site of Tambo Colorado, an Inca settlement dating back to around 1450 AD, located in the province of Pisco. Its name comes from the predominant red color of its structures. Built from mud and adobe, this site is home to some of the best-preserved ruins in Peru. At 5:00 pm, transfer to the meeting point for the buggy excursion. We begin an adventure through the stunning dunes, reaching a high point with breathtaking views, perfect for photos and an introduction to sandboarding (sand skiing), before continuing the ride. Later, you will arrive at your exclusive tent, set up in a private area surrounded by magnificent dunes. A warm campfire and a welcome drink await you, along with a selection of cheeses and assorted hams. Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere with music, photos, and the unique desert ambiance, setting the tone for dinner.

DAY 3 PARACAS - ICA (220 KM)

After breakfast, at 8:00 am, departure to Paracas to board your boat excursion to the Ballestas Islands, where you will be able to observe sea lions, seals, Humboldt penguins, and many species of birds. You will then visit the Julio C. Tello Museum, which features an exhibition of ceramics and textiles illustrating the evolution of the Paracas culture. You will also visit the Reserve Interpretation Center, offering a spectacular view of the bay and migratory birds, such as flamingos. The visit continues through the Paracas National Reserve, crossing the famous sand valley to reach the bay’s shoreline, passing by beaches such as Caquio (or Caclio), Carhuas, and Tunga. Facing the bay are the guano islands, including Independencia (or La Vieja) and Santa Rosita. A box lunch will be provided during the day. We then continue to the city of Ica. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel.

DAY 4 ICA - NAZCA (140 KM)

We will begin with a visit to the Huacachina Lagoon, also known as the “Oasis of America,” where you will admire the stunning desert landscape surrounded by impressive sand dunes. We then continue to the Ica Regional Museum, where you will discover the evolution of the five most representative cultures of the region: Paracas, Nazca, Wari, Ica-Chincha, and Inca. Next, we will visit one of the industrial wineries in Ica. During the visit, you will learn about the production process of Pisco and/or wines, followed by a tasting session. Finally, we transfer to the city of Nazca for the night.

DAY 5 OVERFLIGHT OF THE NAZCA LINES

It is recommended to have breakfast after the flight over the Nazca Lines. This vast network of geoglyphs consists of lines and drawings depicting animals and plants, attributed to the Nazca culture, and covers an area of approximately 350 km². Among the most famous figures, you can observe the Hummingbird, the Dog, the Monkey, and the Astronaut. The German researcher Maria Reiche dedicated over 50 years of her life to studying and preserving this site, concluding that it functioned as an astronomical calendar. After the Nazca Lines overflight, you will begin a guided visit to the archaeological complex of Cahuachi Archaeological Site. This former ceremonial and religious center is located 28 km from the city of Nazca and is believed to be the origin of the Nazca Lines. Cahuachi is also considered the largest city made of sand and clay in the world, covering more than 24 km². Return to the hotel.

DAY 6 NAZCA - LIMA (438 KM)

We recommend an early breakfast at the hotel to ensure a timely departure to Lima. En route, we will stop at the Antonini Museum, a space dedicated to the Nazca culture and civilization. Our second stop will be at the Maria Reiche House Museum, which showcases the work and studies of Dr. Maria Reiche on the Nazca Lines. The museum features maps, plans, photographs, archaeological artifacts, and a didactic model illustrating her research and designs. We then continue our journey to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel.

DAY 7 DEPARTURE FROM LIMA

After a last breakfast in the hotel, transfer to the airport to board your flight back home.
